The residents of Willowbank won a competition, run by the Anchor Trust, based upon getting the best “green credentials”. The competition was open to all 50,000 residents throughout the country. The “prize” was getting a fully funded (part by the Trust and part by the Government) renewable energy scheme at the sheltered accommodation scheme. PPP were instructed to undertake a feasibility of all the viable renewable energy options and to put forward recommendations. The Trust’s in house energy team concurred with our findings and we were then instructed to procure and administer a solar water installation project. The residents benefited by having reduced service charge payments due to the energy saved. This was recognised by the mayor of Cambridge would attended the opening ceremony.
